Information received during a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) suspected unapproved parts (SUP) investigation revealed that between June 2004 and November 2006, Santa Fe Aerospace Corporation (Santa Fe Aerospace), located at 7501 Avenger Way, Suite D, Santa Fe, NM 87507, improperly maintained and approved for return to service engine accessory units applicable to Boeing aircraft, Royal Inventum water heaters, and Driessen hot cups. Santa Fe Aerospace formerly held FAA Air Agency Certificate No. Q8SR970Y, with accessory, instrument, and limited radio ratings.
Evidence indicates that Santa Fe Aerospace approved appliances for return to service that were not maintained in compliance with the manufacturers’ maintenance manuals or other data acceptable to the FAA. Discrepancies included: (1) failure to perform required tests and inspections, (2) use of test equipment that was not calibrated as required, (3) failure to complete requisite repair and overhaul processes steps, and (4) converting and/or modifying appliances without using approved data.
