EASA Part-IS Information event in Lucerne, Switzerland
The Federal Office of Civil Aviation (FOCA) of Switzerland organised an on-site information event about the implementation of the upcoming regulation (EU) 2022/1645 and (EU) 2023/203, aka Part-IS.
More than 120 representatives from organisations took part on the event and had the opportunity to be updated on the latest implementation developments on Part-IS as well as to ask questions to the speakers and panellists.
The EASA Cybersecurity in Aviation and Emerging Risks section was represented by two team members.
Vasileios Papageorgiou, EASA Junior Expert in Cybersecurity in Aviation provided an overview on the structure and main objectives of Part-IS, including the interplay between aviation safety and security, and the actions of EASA towards an EU cyber resilient aviation ecosystem.
Davide Martini, EASA Senior Expert in Cybersecurity in Aviation, participated in a panel discussion that covered, among other things, the threat scenarios that an entity needs to take into account, the differences between ISMS and SMS and the competencies needed for an organisation in order to meet the required criteria.
The event successfully managed to raise the awareness of the attendees on the preparation of Part-IS implementation, and allowed organisations to profit from the experiences of early Part-IS adopters.
Another great event that helped organizations and authorities to exchange and discuss. I was impressed by the active participation and the level of advancement of some organizations in the Part-IS implementation journey. Well done to all!
