We have to check the complexity of the helicopters and the type of maintenance realised: does the operator perform the maintenance for himself or for another one...
To be simple, for all type of operators (NCO, NCC, CAT, SPO...) which are doing the maintenance for their own helicopters :
- Non-complex helicopters: NCO.SPEC.MCF
- Complex helicopters: SPO.SPEC.MCF
For maintenance operators that are doing maintenance for other operators helicopter (commercial maintenance operations...): SPO.SPEC.MCF.

Good afternoon,
Recently I had a chat with a flight crew training specialist from Volocopter. He said that most competencies for pilots will stay the same. Only Flight Path Management - Automation (FPM-A) and Flight Path Management - Manual (FPM-M) will experience a change in their performance marker.
Generally there will be more focus on FPM-A due to the novel flight control system of VTOLs.
Neither EASA SC-VTOL nor Opinion No 03/2023 does not specify this topic but confirms a new training approach for future VTOL-pilots due to the aforementioned challenges in flight control systems. EASA EPAS 2023-2025 mentions Aircraft Upset as the most pressing issue of VTOLs.
1) Are there any EASA GM, Opinion Papers or Regulations on that topic?
2) Will there be an update of the IATA EBT Manual in the future?

Hello Vasileios, yes I understand and I agree with the arguments in your answer. Thank you for this one by the way. I would like to draw your attention to the fact that the Cyber world is a bit like a cooking recipe, everyone knows it and no one knows what’s in it. Starting with the decision-makers, those who will organize or manage an activity that includes Cyber. In general they turn to a Cyber “expert”, and that’s not good. This is like deciding without knowing. For example: if project management methods like “Agility” are adapted to the digital world, it is unmanageable from an aeronautical point of view with certifications (we receive SBs up to three weeks after their publication) . Another example, security control and spoofing, in a digital world how can we ensure that the control is compliant? How to control without opening the code door? without forgetting that these technologies are often particularly sensitive and expensive, how can we ask a supplier to reveal their codes to verify/control? We also forget that signal jamming has existed for much longer, what did we learn back then?

I have an enquiry about Pilot Retirement as we do have a short of Captains. My question here under EASA rules can we extend the age of retirement from 65 to 67 or more if their health allows that.

Hi Axel,
I would agree, as long as the operator still accounts for all operator-specific elements per NCC.OP.110 (b), such as conditions or limitations stated in the AFM of the particular aircraft being operated, the composition of the flight crew, their competence and experience.
So here the operator has to check against the AFM and evaluate crew competence/experience himself, as a commercially available product will normally not be able to do so, and then the operator has to add an appropriate increment to the AOMs.
The analysis may very well show that no increase from the commercially provided AOMs is necessary.

a fi(a) already privileged to instruct class rating SET - here variant Cessna SET;
does this fi(a) have to fulfill that requirement (15 hours) again and again for every newly added SET variant to be eligible to instruct?
