The global helicopter community will come together at the Fourth International Helicopter Safety Symposium (IHSS) on 3 and 4 October 2010 in Cascais, Portugal. Industry, EASA and other authorities, representative associations and operators will participate in an international conference about global and local progress towards the targeted 80% reduction in the helicopter accident rate by 2016 set by the International Helicopter Safety Team (IHST). This year, IHSS will be hosted by the European Helicopter Safety Team (EHEST), the European component of IHST.

At this pivotal time when regional partners are moving from data analysis to setting up Safety Implementation Teams to deliver and monitor real world safety interventions in their regions, this symposium provides an exciting opportunity to share experience and best practices with counterparts from around the world.

Interactive workshops will address the International Helicopter Safety Team’s four priority safety enhancement areas: Safety Management Systems, Data Monitoring, Crew Resource Management and Training. Further innovative safety initiatives will also be addressed including the ways to apply business aviation safety best practices to the helicopter world.
