On 13 July 2016, EASA officially launched in Chisinau (Moldova) a technical cooperation project for the Eastern Partnership and Central Asia countries. The four-year project aims at supporting the implementation of the European and international standards in civil aviation safety, security and market regulation.
The project kicked off in presence of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova, Mr Pavel Filip and the Minister of Transport and Road Infrastructure, Mr Iurie Chirinciuc, as well as representatives of the European Commission, beneficiary countries, The European Conference Civil Aviation (ECAC) and the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
Mr Henrik Hololei, Director General for Mobility and Transport of the European Commission, briefed the participants about the EC priorities in civil aviation and assured of continued commitment to work together on the common safety challenges.
The funding of the project - 5 million EUR - comes from a grant agreement with the European Commission, DG NEAR.
