Welcome to the mini site of the 2009 Europe / US International Aviation Safety Conference

Dear Visitor,

It is my pleasure to introduce you to the website of the 2009 Europe/US International Aviation Safety Conference.

For the last 26 years, this Conference has been a major forum for aviation professionals from around the world to discuss current issues and new initiatives in the area of aviation safety. This year we return to the land where it all began, when Icarus and Daedalus stretched their wings to become this world’s first aviators. Greece and the Athenian blue skies will be our hosts from 2 to 4 June 2009, with the support of the Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority.

As it is the tradition, we are co-chairing the conference with the Federal Aviation Administration and we have put together an agenda addressing the main current concern of the aviation world: improving safety in challenging times.
Responding to the industry’s expectations for new approaches that will help it survive while advancing safety, this year’s theme focuses on how to achieve a more harmonised implementation of rules. Three series of workshops and a range of information sessions have been designed as the platform for a constructive dialogue that will give a new impulse for cooperative approaches between the industry and the regulators. Following up on the last two Conferences, we will also provide you with updates in the areas of data sharing and Safety Management Systems.

Under "Registration" you will instructions on how to register for the conference. All conference documentation will also be published on this website and you are invited to visit it regularly for updates.

I look forward to welcoming you in Athens.

Sincerely,

Patrick Goudou
Executive Director
